Tennessee Football Rivalries: Auburn or Florida?

Tennessee football rivalries have changed over the years. The BIG rivalry these days outside of Alabama is Florida.  This game has huge SEC East implications on who wins the division every year.  But there was a time when Auburn was the BIG DEAL for Tennessee.

Auburn and Tennessee had played each other from 1956-1991.  The two teams did not play each other again until the 1997 SEC Championship game in Atlanta mainly because of the rotating schedule. Rewind to September 1985.  Number #1 Auburn Tigers with Heisman Trophy winning tailback came to Knoxville to play the Vols on a National stage.  Tennessee shut down Bo Jackson and the Tigers 38-20 in route to The Sugar Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes.
