Top 5 Tennessee Freshmen

Don’t discount the Tennessee freshmen just because there’s opportunity aplenty to get on the field early. It doesn’t mean some of them aren’t worthy of praise. Here are the top five freshman through the first week of preseason camp:

1. DL Corey Vereen

Tennessee freshmen

It’s hardly a surprise that Vereen has continued his impressive practice performances since he arrived in Knoxville in January. Vereen was a spring practice standout and has done nothing to diminish that role. Expect extensive playing time for Vereen this season.

“He’s separated himself, not only because he’s been here longer, but because of his work habits and maturity,” defensive line coach Steve Stripling said. “His personality. 9:30 at night in the summer, he would be in here by himself working on skills. He’s one of the highest motivated young men I’ve ever seen.”
