Tennessee’s quarterback race is over – for now. Chances are the situation isn’t completely resolved. It would be hard for any coaching staff not to explore three other options.

Why Justin Worley?

Justin Worley

The junior is the only UT quarterback with experience. That’s good and bad. His experience came mostly with departed Vol receivers. He completed 57.3 percent of his passes in two years and threw five interceptions versus one touchdown. It’s worth noting is Worley improved his completions percentage from 55-percent to 65-percent.

On Monday, Worley was called the alpha-male by head coach Butch Jones. That’s been a recurring mantra Jones has used to describe what he’s looking for in a starting quarterback. The fact that Worley achieved that status is impressive – if it’s not just positive motivation from his head coach.
