Derrell Scott will announce his decision on Monday. He’s not the only North Carolina prospect that Tennessee’s coaches have their eyes on.

Scott has taken official visits to Florida, North Carolina State, Tennessee and South Carolina. The Vols and Gamecocks are thought to be in the best position to land Scott. Some think UT even has the lead for the tailback from Havelock (N.C.) High School.

While in North Carolina to visit Scott, UT’s coaches were able to touch base with 2015 prospect Darian Roseboro, a 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive end from Lincolnton (N.C.) High School. Roseboro has a huge stack of scholarship offers. He told Rivals.com that he will pare down his list of schools to five before his senior season.

Roseboro has visited Tennessee, Auburn, North Carolina and North Carolina State. He said he wants to visit Michigan and Alabama as well. Notre Dame has shown strong interest. However, Roseboro has said repeatedly he’s intrigued by the Vols.

The Vols should be stronger in North Carolina with head coach Butch Jones at the helm. UT struggled in North Carolina for much of former coach Derek Dooley’s tenure.

To his credit, Dooley did get a commitment from quarterback Riley Ferguson from Matthews (N.C.) Butler. During the coaching turnover at UT, Jones was able to hold onto Ferguson and add receiver Marquez North from Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek for the 2013 class.

Suddenly, the Vols have a foothold in a state that has traditionally provided them with championship-level talent. Scott can only help with that if he commits to UT on Monday. That will surely get Roseboro’s attention.
